About Sonia
I’m Sonia, a therapist for overthinkers & deep feelers
Sonia (she/her) specializes in therapy for over thinkers and deep feelers focusing on life transitions, relationship changes, and personal growth.
Remember when therapy wasn’t really a thing? At least, not in my family, my South Asian community, or the spaces I grew up in. Paying someone to air out family drama? Yeah, no. If you had problems, you figured them out yourself—or ignored them over chai and a salty snack. Therapy? That was for people with real problems and extra money.
But life doesn’t care about what we think we should do. Picture this (if you get the reference, we’re meant to work together): I was in my early 20s, juggling a grueling college schedule, trying to eat healthy, work out, maintain friendships, show up for family, work a retail job, and become a dentist (spoiler: that didn’t happen). On the outside, I had it together. Inside? I was exhausted, overwhelmed, and overthinking everything. Every decision felt like life or death. Every interaction replayed in my head a hundred times. Every feeling was big.
If you’re an over-thinker or a deep feeler, you get it. Your brain never stops running, analyzing, second-guessing. Logically, things are “fine,” but internally? Not so much. You feel stuck between too much and not enough—somehow both at once.
So, I did something no one I knew had ever done: I found a therapist. Not on my first try. I wanted someone who understood the immigrant experience, family expectations, the balancing act of two cultures. I didn’t find that unicorn therapist, but I found someone who helped me see myself—and that changed everything.
When I was looking for a therapist, I needed someone who would validate my experiences but also challenge me. Someone I could be real with, without fear of judgment. And honestly? I wasn’t about to sit across from someone in a stiff pantsuit taking notes on a clipboard (but if that’s your vibe, no judgment). Instead, I found someone who was kind, had soft lighting in their office, and casually sipped Diet Coke during our sessions. It was exactly what I needed.
Starting therapy is a big step. It might feel unfamiliar, uncomfortable. You might wonder, Do I just cry? Will they fix my life? What if people find out? Many of us were taught to keep it in, distract ourselves, and move on. But if you’re here, something in you is ready for a shift.
My approach is psychodynamic and relational—meaning we’ll explore how your past shapes your present, how relationships impact your emotions, and how to quiet that overthinking mind. But therapy works when there’s trust, and that’s something we’ll build together.
If this resonates, let’s connect. Book a consultation, and let’s see if we’re a good fit.

Therapy with me might be helpful if:
YOU’RE LEARNING ABOUT YOURSELF (MAYBE FOR THE FIRST TIME)
If you’ve ever wondered, “What’s my deal?” or struggled to figure out where you fit in the world, you're not alone. Together, we’ll take a look at your experiences to help you find clarity on who you are.
RELATIONSHIPS FEEL COMPLICATED
If the people you love have hurt you and you’re unsure how to set boundaries, I can help. We'll work on navigating those tough relationships while protecting your emotional well-being.
YOU CAN’T CHILL
If you feel anxious but aren’t sure why, or if you know the source but don’t know how to handle it, we’ll work together to uncover the root cause and develop strategies to help you manage and reduce that anxiety.
YOU’RE SEEKING INSIGHT AND CONNECTION
Therapy can be a place to bounce off ideas, work through a conflict, or process day-to-day life. Sessions can offer a safe space to gain insight and fresh perspective.
YOU FEAR MAKING MISTAKES
If you’re your own biggest critic and struggle with perfectionism, we’ll tackle that together. I’ll support you in embracing imperfections as part of your growth and finding peace with who you are, flaws and all.
THERAPY IS A FIRST TIME EXPERIENCE
Starting therapy for the first time can feel a bit intimidating, but I want you to know that I’m here to make this process as comfortable and supportive as possible. Our sessions will be a safe, non-judgmental space where you can be yourself and share what’s on your mind. I’ll guide you through life’s challenges with empathy and understanding, at a pace that feels right for you. You don’t have to figure it all out on your own—I’m here to support you as we work together toward clarity and growth.

What it’s like working with me
Therapy with me isn’t about stiff small talk or awkward silences. It’s real, honest conversation—the kind where you don’t have to filter yourself or say what you think you “should” say. You can bring your overthinking, your big feelings, your messy thoughts. That’s what this space is for.
We’ll talk about the things that actually matter. Family expectations, cultural pressure, perfectionism, the constant balancing act of being too much and not enough at the same time. If you grew up in a culture where therapy wasn’t really a thing, it might feel weird at first. That’s okay. We’ll ease into it. No pressure, no rushing.
Your past plays a role in how you see yourself, your relationships, and your decisions, but it’s not the whole story. We’ll make space for it without letting it define you. I’ll always meet you with validation and understanding, but I’ll also challenge the stories your overthinking brain tells you—especially the ones that keep you stuck.
And forget the stiff therapy office vibes. No blazers, no silent note-taking stares. Just a comfortable, down-to-earth space where you can actually focus on you. Because this isn’t about what your family wants, what society expects, or what you think you should do. It’s about figuring out what works for you.
You don’t have to have all the answers before you start. That’s kind of the point.
If this sounds like what you need, let’s talk.

Still unsure?
I offer a free 15-minute consultation to help us get to know each other and see if I’m the right fit for you. During our chat, we’ll talk about what brings you to therapy at this time, any previous experience with therapy, and discuss any questions you might have. Consider it more of a casual chat.
If it feels like a good fit, we can schedule your first appointment. I also encourage you to explore other therapists to find the best match for you, and you’re welcome to cancel anytime if you change your mind.
